Often balance is spoken of as a yin and yang thing. Equal dark and light, good and bad, black and white, etc. Viewed spiritually, balance takes on a new meaning.
To reference a Star Wars analogy, when Luke Skywalker is destined to restore balance to the Force, there are perhaps 10,000 Jedis (really good guys) and 2 Siths (really bad guys). Restoring balance to the Force in this example meant that Luke would redeem or eliminate the two bad guys, so only the good would be present without an opposing dark Force.
Mary Baker Eddy, a real-life balancer of good, wrote:
I will love, if another hates. I will gain a balance on the side of good, my true being. This alone gives me the forces of God wherewith to overcome all error. -Mis. 104:29-32
Let’s put all of our weight on the side of good this year because good is the only force of balance. As God-expressed beings, we're made exclusively of God-qualities like wisdom, peace, purity and love. As we put these qualities into action it's right to witness the parity of mercy and moral uprightness, spontaneity and ordered days, individual creativity and unifying love. God-qualities in action are the light that rids us of mental shadows that claim to be our dark thoughts.
God has given each of us a balanced life, full to brim with right activity. Let's work for good wholeheartedly this year and let our balanced lives praise Life.
