You don't get rid of darkness by yelling at it
"A simple ray of light can break into a world of darkness and illuminate it." -attributed to the young Albert Einstein
Instead of seeing the dark spots in life as realities (as things), it's helpful to see them as areas of consciousness where there's a lack of light or love. You don't get rid of dark areas by yelling at them or wishing them to go away. There's a need to see divine Love or divine light fully present right in those situations.
If we're just trying to get rid of bad thoughts that lead to bad experiences, we might find ourselves washed clean of negative thinking but left with an empty mind and another bad thought could just mosey right on in! Instead, if we fill our minds with truths about God's love and care, then there will be no room for discordant thinking to get in. Can the dark creep back into a room full of light? The lack of good we see in life will disappear as it's filled with light--the understanding of Life's all-present love.
"Truth destroys falsity and error, for light and darkness cannot dwell together. Light extinguishes the darkness, and the Scripture declares that there is “no night there.” To Truth there is no error, — all is Truth. " -Mary Baker Eddy
